
The Seattle City Council approved the appointment of eight new commissioners and the re-appointment of two others.
Under the 2017 Accountability Legislation that made the CPC permanent, the Mayor, Council, and CPC itself each get to appoint seven commissioners to the CPC.
Here are the appointments that were approved today.
CPC Appointments
Joseph Seia is being re-appointed to the CPC, Seia will be serving his second term as a CPC commissioner. He is the Director of Program Operations at New Horizons.
Mark Mullens is a Seattle Police officer. The CPC reserves two of it’s seven appointments for police officers from Seattle’s two police unions. Mullens has been appointed to take the Seattle Police Officers Guild seat.
Council Appointments
Brandy Grant is a Program Manager at the Alliance for Gun Responsibility Foundation.
Natasha Moore is a Program Manager at Choose 180.
Karisa Morikawa is a Community Empowered Disposition Alternative and Resolution (CEDAR) Navigator at Choose 180.
Alina Santillan is the Director of Racial Equity for the Seattle Center Cohort.
Mayoral Appointments
Rev. Harriett Walden is being re-appointed. She’s one of the three 2019 co-chairs of the CPC and is a co-founder of Mothers for Police Accountability.
Erin B. Goodman is the Executive Director of SODO Business Improvement Area.
Esther Lucero is the CEO of Seattle Indian Health Board.
Asha Mohamed is the Executive Director of the Somali Youth and Family Club.
Jay Hollingsworth was not re-appointed.
